Eureka Forbes Smartclean Robotic Vacuum Cleaner

Robotic vacuum cleaners are gaining popularity for their convenience and automation. After owning a reliable Eureka Forbes vacuum cleaner for over 15 years, I decided to upgrade to a robotic cleaner from the same trusted brand. I purchased the Eureka Forbes Smart Clean model and would like to share my experience to help others avoid mistakes I made during my buying journey.

Why I Chose Eureka Forbes Smart Clean

The main reason for selecting Eureka Forbes was the brand’s proven reliability from years of using their traditional vacuum cleaner. The Smart Clean model impressed me with its strong 5000pa suction power and smart house mapping capabilities. The initial setup was straightforward: after pairing it with the mobile app, the robot mapped my entire 900 sqft home, recognized individual rooms, and even named them automatically. This accurate house layout mapping took just minutes and set the foundation for efficient cleaning.

Key Features That Work Well

  • Powerful Suction and Multiple Modes: With 4 cleaning modes, the suction power, noise level, and battery usage can be balanced to fit different needs. Even on max power, it cleans thoroughly and consumes battery efficiently.
  • Long-Lasting Battery: The 5000mAh battery easily completes two full cleanings of my house on a single charge, retaining about 50% battery afterward.
  • Smart Cleaning Controls: The mobile app allows configuring auto cleaning schedules twice a day, zone cleaning for specific areas, separate room cleaning, and no-go zones to prevent access to restricted areas.
  • Maintenance and Spare Parts: Consumable parts like the side brush, roller brush, and HEPA filter are durable for about a year and easily available from Eureka Forbes service support.
  • Convenient Operation: Once the cleaning cycle is completed, the robot automatically returns to its charging dock. It connects to home WiFi, enabling remote operation via mobile app from anywhere.

Areas That Could Be Improved

  • Dustbin Size: The built-in dustbin is relatively small and requires frequent emptying, about once a week for me. For hassle-free use, models with an auto-empty bin that can hold up to 60 days of dust are available.
  • Hair Tangling in Brushes: Unfortunately, hair tends to get tangled in the roller brush, requiring manual cleaning. While there are advanced models with anti-hair tangle technology, this was not considered during my first purchase but will be in the future.
  • Mop Function Limitations: The mop function uses a separate 300ml water tank attachment and can mop only after vacuuming. It cannot be scheduled for regular weekday use, so I mop mainly on weekends.
  • Obstacle Navigation Issues: The robot sometimes tries to access hard-to-exit spaces, such as under furniture or stands with obstacles it fails to detect (e.g., water dispenser stand). To prevent it getting stuck, I placed a visible obstruction like a plastic box there.
  • Sensitivity to Small Items: Small toys, hairbands, papers, and lightweight cloths on the floor can get caught in the vacuum, causing noise and potential jams. It alerts for help if stuck, but manual intervention is required.
  • Not Fully Autonomous: The cleaner cannot completely replace manual cleaning. Larger debris and misplaced objects must be cleared from its path to ensure effective operation, which could be a challenge for non-tech-savvy users.

Alternative Robotic Vacuum Models to Consider

If budget and preferences vary, here are some worthy alternatives:

Eureka Forbes SmartClean Auto Bin 5000Pa

Eureka Forbes SmartClean Auto Bin 7000Pa

DREAME L10S Pro

DREAME L10 Prime

DREAME D10 Plus Gen 2

iLIFE T20s Pro

iLIFE A30 Pro

Models to Avoid

  • Eureka Forbes Vac n Mop: Has only 2000pa suction and 2600mAh battery - insufficient for thorough cleaning.
  • Eureka Forbes LVAC: Limited suction (2700pa) and 3200mAh battery make it less effective.

Final Advice Before Buying

  • Look for robotic vacuums with at least 4000pa suction power and 5000mAh or higher battery capacity for effective and reliable cleaning.
  • Check the availability of consumables like roller brushes, side brushes, and HEPA filters.
  • If budget permits, auto-empty dustbin models drastically reduce maintenance effort.
  • Consider models with anti-hair tangle technology on the roller brush if hair tangling is a concern.
  • Manual clearing of obstacles and regular dustbin emptying remain necessary for smooth operation.

Ratings

After using the Eureka Forbes Smart Clean robotic vacuum cleaner extensively, here is a quick rating based on key aspects important for home cleaning automation.

Cleaning Capability: 3.5/5

The vacuum delivers strong suction at 5000pa and effectively cleans floors with multiple modes to suit different needs. However, hair tangling on the roller brush and occasional difficulty in detecting small objects like toys or cloth can interrupt its performance. Manual intervention is sometimes necessary.

Auto Mapping: 4/5

The house mapping feature is impressive and maps rooms quickly and accurately via the paired mobile app. It identifies and names rooms, allowing tailored cleaning schedules and zone restrictions. A slight deduction for occasional navigation challenges around certain furniture edges.

Battery Performance: 4.5/5

The 5000mAh battery reliably supports two full cleanings of a 900 sq.ft. home on a single charge, with battery remaining after use. It manages battery consumption well across different suction modes, making it suitable for daily use without frequent recharging.

Overall Rating: 3.5/5

The Eureka Forbes Smart Clean offers robust automation and cleaning for its price, backed by a reliable brand. While some usability issues like small dustbin capacity and brush tangling exist, its strong suction, intelligent mapping, and long-lasting battery make it a good choice for those ready to manage minor maintenance.
